We had our first round of end-of-year testing today.
Booyah. It was stressful and took forever to get set up, but it all worked out
(just like life, right?) and I was proud to walk around and see my kiddos doing
their very best. That’s all I ever ask. I have one particular student who gets
incredibly anxious and stressed during testing. If he thinks something is too
hard for him, he completely shuts down and won’t do anything. I was nervous for
him this morning as I watched him a few minutes before the test. I’ll be
honest, he was kind of a wreck. I had to tell him multiple times to calm down
and take deep breaths. As we walked into the computer lab to start our test, I
saw another boy in the class come up to this troubled student and start rubbing
his shoulders. He then said, “You got this. You got this.” This troubled
students’ countenance completely changed. He smiled and said, “Thanks. Ya, I do.”
This really touched me. We all have times in our life
where we’re troubled or stressed or overwhelmed or irritable or worried. Sometimes
all we need is for someone to give us a nice shoulder rub (so to speak) and
tell us that we got this. My husband is that for me all of the time, and I pray
for opportunities to be that for those around me. I’m thankful for a loving
Heavenly Father who pours out His love and lets me know “I’ve got this” every
time I get on my knees to pray, or every time I read the scriptures.
Whatever you’re going through, don’t fret. You totally
got this, especially when you know who’s backing you up the whole way through.

Love it, Rachel! What a great teacher you are... so aware and concerned about your students. And you're like that outside of your teaching life, too! Love you!
