Madelyn's Tick

A few days after we got home from the Simons Reunions up at the cabin, Madelyn came down with a fever. I didn't think much of it and then my mom came to be with us for a bit while Robbie went out of town for a YM campout and Blade Show. Madelyn was lying on her lap and was showing her a bump on the back of her head that was bugging her. My mom called me over and showed me what looked like a tick. I took her straight over to Instacare and they did a bunch of tests trying to figure out if the fever was related to the tick or not. Everything came back normal so they removed the tick and the doc said he'd send it off to get identified and tested for disease.  We also took antibiotics for 10 days. We followed up with Dr. Ring the following week and it took a good 2 weeks for Madelyn to feel back to normal. Poor girl had a fever for a few days, was pretty fatigued, and complained about her eyes hurting and being super sensitive to light. We had her blood tested for Colorado Tick Fever on June 18th after hearing the tick came back negative for Lyme disease, but that test came back negative too. Not sure if we'll ever know what was going on in her body, but we feel pretty strongly it was something from the tick. We're happy to have it behind us and we're so thankful to have our healthy and happy Maddie back!

Taking Training Wheels Off

One of our goals this summer was to get the twins riding their bikes without their training wheels. They weren't super interested in it last summer, but were all about trying this year! Yesterday, I worked with Olivia for 5-10 minutes and she was off! She caught on so quickly. And then while I was helping Olivia, Kate basically taught herself and only needed my help for a couple minutes. These girls were ready! They woke up at 7 this morning and went straight out to work on their new skill. It was such a joy watching how proud they were of themselves. Go, girls, go!

Pool Day

Over the weekend we got our green pool out for the first time this summer! It has been super hot, so this was just what the kids all needed. My favorite part was Beth in her minnie mouse swim suit!

Cabin Overnighter with the Beans

We've been wanting to take my family up to the cabin for a while now, and we finally got the chance! R&E are still in California waiting for their home to be finished, but Dave and Todd and G&G were able to join us for a quick overnighter. We ate yummy food, went on mule rides, made s'mores, and stayed up talking. I loved being able to share a place we love so much with my family.

Simons Family Reunion

We love this crew so much and are thankful for a weekend up at the cabin with them! We sure missed grandma and grandpa on their mission and can't wait until they can join us again! What a blessing it is to have this supportive group and so many cousins to play with.
