A few days after we got home from the Simons Reunions up at the cabin, Madelyn came down with a fever. I didn't think much of it and then my mom came to be with us for a bit while Robbie went out of town for a YM campout and Blade Show. Madelyn was lying on her lap and was showing her a bump on the back of her head that was bugging her. My mom called me over and showed me what looked like a tick. I took her straight over to Instacare and they did a bunch of tests trying to figure out if the fever was related to the tick or not. Everything came back normal so they removed the tick and the doc said he'd send it off to get identified and tested for disease. We also took antibiotics for 10 days. We followed up with Dr. Ring the following week and it took a good 2 weeks for Madelyn to feel back to normal. Poor girl had a fever for a few days, was pretty fatigued, and complained about her eyes hurting and being super sensitive to light. We had her blood tested for Colorado Tick Fever on June 18th after hearing the tick came back negative for Lyme disease, but that test came back negative too. Not sure if we'll ever know what was going on in her body, but we feel pretty strongly it was something from the tick. We're happy to have it behind us and we're so thankful to have our healthy and happy Maddie back!
