Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! One of the greatest blessings in my life will always be that my mother is my best friend. Because I grew up with four brothers and no sisters, my mom filled the role of mom, sister, and best friend. I was probably a little too attached to her when I younger (running after her screaming as she drove away down the road), but it was just because I loved her and felt safe and secure when she was there. My mom has a fierce dedication to her role as a mother. She knows it is a divine calling and has always, no matter what, put her family first. One thing she does that means the world to me is that she will always answer my phone call, even if she is in the middle of teaching. She knows teaching is important, but she also knows her kids are even more important. It may seem like a small thing, but it says volumes about what kind of mother she is.

I'll be honest in saying that it has been an adjustment getting married and not talking to my mom as much anymore. I know it is a necessary change, and I love that I now tell Robbie everything, but I will never get sick of chatting with my mom. Because she raised me, she knows me in a way that no one else does.

My mother is compassionate, dedicated, kind, faithful, talented, thoughtful, hilarious, and has more self-control than anyone I know. I sure love this woman. I'm so excited to be a mother someday and draw from her amazing example.

I couldn't end this post without a shout out to my mother-in-law, Dayna, who raised the most kind and wonderful son. She has took me in as one of her own and I love her for it.
