Christmas Day 2017

Merry Christmas! The girls went to bed pretty excited for Santa to visit our house, yet the first thing they asked for when they woke up was to have a bath. Go figure...so we bathed them and then we ran downstairs to see our stockings! We ate a quick breakfast and then gathered around the tree to take turns opening presents. We really tried this year to get presents that were meaningful and that each of them would really, truly love. Ones they'd play with over and over, ones that would stimulate creative play. I'm happy to say we pretty much nailed it and it was a pay day morning for us parents to see so much excitement in our kids' faces. Christmas is so magical. A camera and doctor kit for Kate, a xylophone and baby carrier for Olivia, and a piano and huge teddy bear for Madelyn. Lots of books and a few smaller things. Then after everyone had opened presents, we surprised them with the dollhouse and new toy room in the basement. That was a really fun surprise, what a great morning!
On the other hand, we had some super stressful moments and were late getting down to Lindon and the world was ending and you know how it goes. BUT we pushed through and had a wonderful rest of our day.

We got down to Lindon around 10:00 and ate our traditional Christmas brunch before opening presents: orange rolls, egg souffle, breakfast casserole, and mom added an amazing fruit salad this year. The rest of the day was full of naps, visiting, video games, more eating, playing, and a Christmas devotional from my dad. He always shares the most insightful thoughts. I'll let the photos speak for themselves. It was a beautiful Christmas, how thankful we are for family and our Savior.
